I've been a coffee fanatic for many years and even roasted my own beans for a while. However, I found that the coffee I brew with beans from Coffee by the Roast beans far surpasses anything that I've brewed with my home-roasted beans. Moreover, I can sample beans from literally every coffee-growing region in the world and, if that weren't enough, I can try any beans at a variety of roast levels. They also offer custom blends of coffee that are rather enjoyable and provide even more ways to sample coffee. Coffee by the Roast has allowed me to try and come to enjoy coffee roasted to levels that I avoided previously. They've brought coffee to a new level for anyone who really loves coffee. The service is great and the prices are reasonable. The coffee is packed in a custom-made plastic bag that creates a virtually air-tight environment that is superior to any of the most expensive coffee containers. None of the major, boutique coffee chains can match the flavor and aroma that I have come to enjoy from coffee brewed with beans from Coffee by the Roast.

Paul and Carrie, by far, provide the best coffee in the Country. I have had coffee from the NE—SW, SE, NW, SW, etc. No one can match their selection, and they roast the beans perfectly; Paul has the magic touch. You will not find better quality coffee anywhere in the continental US.

So good. The best coffee. I'm a huge coffee snob, I have all the best gadgets to improve my morning coffees. Finding out about Coffee by the Roast was another game changer that took my coffee to the next level. I love their coffee. I can finally have coffee shop level coffee every day. They also have excellent customer service and a great selection.

If you are looking for a mass produced cup of coffee, look somewhere else. If you are looking for the best cup of coffee you have ever had in your life, right at your house, you need to order your beans from Coffee by the Roast. I first had coffee roasted by Coffee by the Roast at Birdie’s Cafe in Libertyville. I was so impressed with my first few cups of espresso that I ordered my first set of beans nearly two years ago. Ever since, Coffee by the Roast has been my go-to spot for all my coffee beans. I have not bought anywhere else for two whole years. They have never disappointed me. They always have unique beans to try and I love that I can experiment with different roasting temperatures, single-source beans, and blends. I have also really enjoyed getting a few single sources and trying different proportions at home. The coffee these beans produce has been of exceptional quality. Paul and Carrie really know their roasting. Most recently, I asked for my roast to be removed just after the first crack. Honestly, I was expecting Paul to tell me that they could not do that for me. But they were very happy to oblige my seemingly random request. And let me tell you, the coffee those beans produced WAS AMAZING!!! I am incredibly thankful to have a local roaster that can do small batches so I can continue to experiment with different flavors. Not only do I love supporting a business in the community where I live and supporting the economy of North Chicago through them, but their coffee is just SO DARN GOOD! I can’t wait for my next roast and to continue supporting this business for many years to come.

I usually don't leave reviews but this place deserves one! The very first time I ordered my first batch of coffee beans from Coffee by the Roast, immediately I was able to pick up the difference from all those other brands. If you live nearby and want fresh coffee this is definitely the place. I placed a few orders and have never been disappointment and will continue to buy my coffee here!

I am a very serious coffee drinker, and I relish superior coffee. When my custom roaster in Brooklyn, relocated and was bought out, I needed to find another source of exquisitely sourced and roasted beans for my daily grind. After a bit of searching, I found Coffee by the Roast, and have never looked back. They are wonderful to deal with, the coffee arrives so fresh and delicious. We created our own custom blend from a few of their different beans and roasts as well as enjoying some of them "straight". Our friends, relatives and clients all love it. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is serious about enjoying and consumming coffee.

If you are looking for the freshest coffee you can order online than this is the place. I was sick of getting coffee at the supermarket or even my local coffee shop and it having no flavor or much taste to it. I researched and found that you need to have fresh roasted coffee to get the best flavor. I have been ordering from Coffee by the Roast for over 6 months now and my wife and I absolutely love it. They have a fantastic selection of coffee from all over the world. Once ordered they pretty much roast it the same day and you receive it 2 days later. They even write the roasted date on the bag so that you can see when it was roasted. Fresh roasted coffee tastes phenomenal. You will not regret ordering from Coffee by the Roast !!

I love this company and their coffee! Easy to order, always shipped immediately, and great customer service should you encounter a rare problem. They have a great variety of coffees including organic. I love picking out new varieties of beans and roasting techniques according to the season. They are the most reliable coffee bean supplier I have ever tried.
